Seriously though..It depends on what tach you have...You could put it on the steering column if you have that type. You could also place it on the top of the dash to the right of the steering wheel. You would have to drill holes in your dash for a mounting bracket..Do you have a picture of the tach? Does it have a mounting bracket? Jeff C. Camarofanatic73 04-11-2006, 07:15:02 PM Here's were I put mine- I've got a 3- 3/4" Auto Meter sport comp tach that I mounted on my A-pillar. (you gotta have the metal a-pillar trim-not the plastic) It's real close to the same height as my side mirror-it's not distracting my vision and it's easy to see. Eventually, I want to re-do my dash and get rid of the idiot lights and up-grade to all auto-meter gauges. night rider 04-12-2006, 01:33:35 AM Alot of guys will just get a large rad. hose clamp, take clamp apart, put tach on the steering cloumn, then put the hose clamp around the mounting bracket of tach.. That away theres no holes drilled, can be removed easy, etc asphaltburner 04-19-2006, 02:27:11 AM Yo! I like night_riders idea. When I had idiot lights, I drilled through the blank on my dash (Defrost switch position) and attached my Summit tach there. Just finished a full conversion of my dash to gauges and will post pics tomorrow. I used all my origonal parts, plus a stock tach ($15 here), a small fuel gauge ($10 here), and three Autometer gauges. Hard wired my dash to replace the floppy circuit, since that was the best way to wire it up. I use 11 electrical connectors instead. My dash pad is new so I certainly couldn't attach the tach there,...now it's right in front of me, next to the speedo! And almost looks factory,...except for the 1.5" diam. Autogauges. Watch for my pics of my project! Todd. |
