My 71 is a factory A/C car but the dash does not have the center vent above and to the right the radio.

Is this the wrong dash (a non A/C dash)?

Over all, it seems to fit ok...but???

Maybe someone did not want the A/C because of rumors of it robbing horsepower and they thought the dash without the vents were cooler or they got a good deal. Most likly because they tend to pull up.I myself have a original A/C 1971 Camaro and I still have the vented dash. How do you know yours is original?Just a thought or two for you.

My car has the AC hole on the firewall. When I bought it had all the AC/heater stuff removed from it to save weight.

Why would somebody put a non-AC dash on an AC car? UGH

My firewall looks like this http://nastyz28.com/tech/heat-ac/acfirew.jpg

Especially since that hole in the dash is such a great place for some gauges!

Well, I have decided to throw in the towel on replacing the factory AC/Heater setup. It will be just too much work, money and time. Esspecially now that I will probably need to take my dash back out and find an A/C dash.
Besides I am still short on most of the other parts inlcuding the outside box.

So I am going to go with the Mojave heater I saw a post about. I figure it will run about $200 for the heating unit and defoster adapter. But the best part is it looks like the install will take less than a day (including the time to fab something respectable to cover the firewall hole).

Yup, thats my new plan of action... no changin my mind now... thats gonna be it.
