Searching GOOGLE, etc for accurate replacement material for Woodgrain Shift Plate 70-72. Original Material appears to me as man made product versus an actual WOOD veneer...having trouble finding a mfg or vendor that has something "REAL CLOSE"

Don't really know what good any of your links will be, but I have contacted two people on e-bay who sell restored 70-72 deluxe shifter plates. They do look very good in the pictures. Both guys won't share any information about the material they use for restoration. It's got to be out there somewhere! Jim

We've looked all over and have found some very nice woodgrain, but none of them had the correct texture. If you look closely at an original there are tiny indented lines that I guess are supposed to give it that real wood look. Unfortunately none seem to have this detail.

The original APPLIQUE was done with a process whereby the "Woodgrain" was engraved or ????? directly onto a thin piece of metal AND then metal is glued to die cast shift plate....This entire subject is very frustrating and I've already spent MANY hours reseaching this. "Guy" from the internet offered to do his "thing" to my shift plate for around $100......but I didnt take him up on his offer ........Chuck
