There is the Mid-Atlantic F-body, along with some web site clubs. Some depends upon year. That's the group I hang out with the most,it was primarily geared towards 3rd gen and 4 th gens, but it's slowly expanding.

Speaking of which , there is the national meet of the various groups coming up shortly, and you can still get in if you hurry.

See here:
http://www.fbody-event.org
You'll meet a TON of people from the region, the Mid atlantic group is pretty strong.

That's the all the links to all the mailing f-body lists.

04-17-2006, 07:06:54 AM
Haven't seen your car yet. Someone else over by the new barracks has a blue one mabey I'll put a note under his winshield and see if he's interested. I'm driving mine in today it's a 74, white with black racing stripes.

tstibby
04-17-2006, 10:20:31 PM
Nope that's one of the few things I haven't done yet. Yours going bad?

383 chevy
04-17-2006, 10:26:32 PM
No, I have 4.11's and Im thinking ill try 3.73 or 3.78 gives me alittle better ride on the street, still having the bite when I need it. Ive checked a few sites on the process I think shiming it would give me a bit of a problem. Allot of sites have the steps in enginear terms, but Im in the army I need pics!

Loki80RS
04-18-2006, 01:33:32 PM
changing gears is pretty easy just order the gear set you want and it should just swap in

oh yeah im back From PA so im up for a meet whenever if you guys want to meet up somewhere sometime my car is a project but i can drive it

383 chevy
04-18-2006, 04:48:43 PM
It looked pretty easy except for the shimming thing. I also read that if you don't get it right then you can really F@@K something up. Ill check with the guys at the hobby shop here and see if they have done it "they are ASE cert'" so I hope they have and just pay them to look over my shoulder and slap me on the head if I mess up.:bowtie:

i'd be interested in a SE virginia club. i got a '79 that goes no where, but hopefully that'll change this year. i can still get to the meets though in another car :)

383 chevy
04-20-2006, 11:42:56 AM
Im not familiar with a SE, break it down for me. If you need help getting your up Im willing to help. Im not super knowledgable but have done quite abit.

Loki80RS
04-20-2006, 02:02:11 PM
he was saying SE as in south east virginia, but on another note what do you guys need to get your cars on the road maybe we can help eachother out im pretty good with mechanics and things and i have a friend who used to have a camaro and built his from the ground up and he would help us. Let me know my wife is going out of town for 2 weeks so im free.

KeiichiZ28
04-20-2006, 03:57:59 PM
heh yeah, i meant southeast. i'm pretty much at the very beginning of my project. engine block needs to go to a machine shop for cleanup. after that it's just a whole lot of body work. i basically have a primered body with no real interior. not a lot of rust fortunately, but it'll need some work plus the extra stuff like running fuel/brake lines, etc. i need to do it all. got beautiful rust at the passenger side radiator core mount. sigh, so much to do, so little money.

383 chevy
04-20-2006, 04:58:26 PM
I just got done with the body and Im about 80% done with the interior. As for the engine/trans/rear end thats another story. Its built but not built for what I want. You said it best time and money mainly money. Me and a friend are heading to the pick and pull near VA beach on sat morning. I need to try and find a 3 gen PS gearbox and a 10 bolt posi rear end and what ever else looks good. If anyone wants to meet there or meet up to go there, Im game. They should have a interchange manual so you might be able to find those fue lines, etc. As for the rust best bet is to weld patches then fill, theres a hobby shop here on Ft.Eustis that has a welder for use. Im will to help work, Ive had alittle bit of experience holding two beers.

Loki80RS
04-24-2006, 06:52:53 AM
how far is ft eutis from the beach i found something i need to weld and its almost an emergency i will try to find a welder in the mean time.

KeiichiZ28
04-24-2006, 12:43:31 PM
ft. eustis is on the north side of newport news, gotta be like 45 minutes from va beach on a good day.

unforunately i can't get on base :( body work is probably one of the later things i'll tackle, gonna get the engine running and get the interior put together first.

Loki80RS
04-27-2006, 08:04:22 AM

heh, sorry, you take 264 west to 64 west. get off at the second J. Clyde Morris exit (route 17, exit 258A). turn right on diligence drive, turn right on thimble shoals blvd. turn right on fountain way, that'll put you at the fountain, at that point, i guess just look for more camaros :)

hey guys are any of you really wanting to do this because it don't seem like it anymore lets keep trying to get this going

tstibby
06-23-2006, 03:44:07 PM
I think the problem is we're not giving people enough time to plan out time for a meeting. Let's try to plan something for the weekend of the 15th of next month. That should be enough time to figure something out. As for distance I'm having carb, and starter issues so I'll be driving my other car, so distance isn't an issue.

Loki80RS
06-23-2006, 07:28:16 PM
what kind of carb and starter issues i know alittle about each

tstibby
06-24-2006, 10:09:53 AM
The starter issue is because I can't get the shimming right and it grinds sometimes when I go to start it. Ive tried all kinds of combinations with different thickness shims but nothing has worked so far. Flywheel's good and starter is new so I guess I'll just keep trying. The other issue is that when the engine get's hot and I let off on the gas it just dies. No clue why it just does. I have no idea why the car is being such a pain I never had any problems with it in Washington State, all of these issues started when I brought it to VA.

383 chevy
06-24-2006, 02:30:53 PM
With the starter take a long flat tip and pry the bendix gear up to the fly, make sure the you have two fly teeth between bendix gear teeth, take a paper clip between the tooth of the fly and starter gear. Should be not to loose not to tight, do that with all the intertwined teeth and shims untill you get it where it feels right. Also make sure you do it on the four points on the fly. If your starter is good on two point but not on the other two, fly maybe warped alittle. As for the over heating check wires/plugs/ and distributor "coil". Chance the coil might be over heating. Good luck Im free tomorrow until 2:30 if you want to take it to the hobby shop.

The 15th sounds alright to me, I got the TA ready. Someone needs to self proclaim themselves pres. and pick the meet points.

Loki80RS
06-27-2006, 06:45:43 PM
i'll be pres if no one else wants it, the 15th it is lets take a poll for meeting places lets get some places together and then we will vote on them.

tstibby
06-30-2006, 04:54:08 PM
Hey guys what's up hope everyones having a good 4th of July weekend. Hey 383 thanks for the offer to help but the car isn't running right now so the hobby shop is out. Need some help on something, did the 74 come with an electirc choke carb or a manual chock carb? I've got a few extra wires that don't hook up to anything and I'm wondering if one of them is an electric choke wire. Also some places to meet would be Newport News park, oyster point or somewere closer to loki.

Loki80RS
07-01-2006, 06:06:08 PM
i got no problem going out to newport news i just need to get new front tires and an alignment and new inspection then im good to go.

383 chevy
07-02-2006, 02:09:30 PM
Im cool with Newport News park or anywhere actually. I would prefer somewhere where there is something to do. I say that gocart place near VA beach, motor world or something like that. Its over like your going to the VA Aquarium. But like I said, Im good with anywhere. As for the carb thing I can't really help you on that I would have to see the wires and even then it would be a guess.

Loki's got my vote for pres.

Loki80RS
07-02-2006, 07:31:28 PM
hey thats an idea we can do motorworld

Loki80RS
07-12-2006, 12:22:32 PM
hey guys what are we doing im up for motorworld it is right down the street from me so that will work out great for me, or we can meet up somewhere and cruise down here to go there it don't matter to me

tstibby
07-12-2006, 04:50:52 PM

Loki80RS
07-12-2006, 06:25:27 PM

tstibby
07-12-2006, 08:28:18 PM

Loki80RS
07-14-2006, 12:36:08 AM
