I would really appreciate any advice anyone has on this subject. I am trying to get my lights to work, and am highly confused at what is going on. My blinkers work fine with the lights off...but the second I turn the lights on, the blinker on the passenger side doesn't blink....It stays lit up, and is brighter than the drivers side marker light. Then I turn off the lights, and they blink normally again. I have changed out plugs, rewired the ground (multiple times) and put in all new light bulbs. Why would the passenger side marker be brighter when the headlights are on....and also not be blinking? Anyways, if anyone can give me some advice that would be great!! Thanks

It sounds like the low side of the bulb is grounding through the high side. I'm not sure how to explain it. Basically there are two filaments in the bulb. With the lights on the dimmer of the two is energized. But in your case it is finding a ground through the brighter filament for some reason. The reason it wouldn't flash is because there is power on the ground side of the high filament. If you have already done the sockets, bulbs and grounds I really have no advice other than to re-check it all again.

Agreed. I also found once that I had a light socket that was messed up. It gave me fits for a few days until I found it.

I'd agree with the answers already given. There are two filaments in the bulb. The dimmer one should come on when the park lights are on, and the brighter one should flash when you signal for a turn. It sounds like both of yours are coming on steady when you signal for a turn when the lights are on. You can check this by actually looking into the lamp with it on. You should be able to see each individual filament. If not, temporarily put in a clear 1157 rear lamp into the socket instead of the amber 1157A front lamp. Something isn't correct with your wiring. Check it against another car if you can, or check it against the wiring diagrams Madmike has here.

hey guys, thanks for the input....I'll go back and recheck everything today and really concentrate on that socket and see if it isn't anything with that.

Look for a bad ground somewhere, I had that happen quit a few times and it was always a bad ground.

Bad/dirty/missing grounds are your enemy. They can be front or back in the trunk. Have also seen connector to tail lights (usually in the trunk) with dirty/corroced connections do the same thing.

hey guys, thanks for all the tips. I got the lights fixed today. I went back into the wire harness, and the guy that had the car before must have done some "repairs", because there were two wires that were crossed up for the marker lights. Anyways, I got the problem fixed. Thanks again.

Glad you found it. Yeah, you have to watch all that stuff. Wiring is usually the first thing people seem to mess with. I have seen some real nightmares done by supposed backyard mechanics:confused:
