I don't know if anyone saw the post in the BS section yesterday, but the Camaro almost went up in flames. I have a Flaming River electrical and alternator shut-off. The wires to the alternator came loose under the car, sat on the exhaust, and got toasted all the way back to the source. Damaged the trunk, but not bad. Anyways, is there any way to fuse/switch wiring to an alternator and still be legal at the track? Or does the current fluctuate too much. I don't want to remove the wires, they are necessary to race. But I want piece of mind that this won't happen again or worse.

I'll second Mad Electrical. Mark really knows his stuff and is willing to talk to you about your individual electrical needs. His products are top notch in my book.

Wire as previously posted but run the 8ga wire inside the car though the trough(sp) under the sill plates and put it in convoluted tubing.

And put a fusible link in it too.

And put a fusible link in it too.Yup. The pic above shows a 12 ga link right at the battery side of the solenoid.
