Looking for info on which wire is used to activate the starter solenoid.(large purple ?)
My key switch works to energize the ignition and will shut off the car, but does'nt do anything when the key switch is rotated to start the car.
Somewhere along the line, the engine caught fire and maybe someone re-wired the firewall bulkhead connector.
(Got the car with the air cleaner fire dognut on the hood.)
Can't find a pink wire anywhere on the bulkhead connector either. I've checked out the wiring diagram for a 74 from this site, but it appears to differ from my car (different color wires).

yes the purple one goes to starter selenoid, thick one comes directly from baterry... maybe someone changed something in your harness, try to re do it as close as the original one...
