Guys,
If nobody chimes in before the weekend then e-mail me on Saturday and I will go measure mine. I just got done doing this job on my 71Z project and I still have the stencil kit instructions ( I think ). The cars are at my weekend place, or I would go do it right now for you.
The tall spoiler thing is interesting. For 71 and 72 the stripes simply ran to the end / back of the spoiler. On 73 cars the stripe stopped just before the end of the spoiler and the narrow stripes on each side curved around the bottom, sorta like how the stripes look on the header panel.

From centerline of trunk to main stripe body - 4.50" constant. From outside edge of trunk to main stripe body - 4.31". Main stripe width - 13.42". Small stripes outside of main stripe are .25" wide and .25" out from main stripe body.

I just did my stripes on my 70. I used the measurements from the factory manual, which, are different than stripes kits. The factory measurements for a 1970 Z28 are:
13.420" in width ( thick stripe only)
.250" space between the wide stripe and the outer thin one.
The outer thin stripe is .250" - just like the space between the two stripes.
14.420" total across one entire side.
To lay them, find your centre line of your deck lid. measure over 4" inches and that will be the outer edge of the thin .250" stripe. Once the .250" stripe is down measure over .250" and start your wide stripe, which is 13.420". Buy the proper .250" striping tape from a auto body supply. It works great and no bleed under.
My Z is: black .250" stripe, citrus green .250" space, 13.420" black stripe, .250" citrus green space and .250" black stripe.
The measurement from the outer edge of the thin stripe to the edge of the deck lid is unimportant. That measurement is what it is. However, I checked mine for you and they are:
4.125" at top edge of deck lid and 3.5" at the spoiler. I have the low spoiler. I hope this helps.
Mike.

Your right Mike.
The 73 and the 70 turned at the bottom. For the 70 the space is also .250 from the bottom edge of the spoiler. I'm not sure about the 73's space along the edge but likely the same. It's either 13.420 thick, .250" space and thin stripe and 4" from the centreline of the deck lid. Mike, check and I bet you will see that the stensil kit puts the stripes closer together (less than 4" from centre line of the deck lid to thin stripe edge)
I'm curious about that.

Mike,
I will check it out.
On the trunk I did use the tape that came with the stencil kit, but rather than use the templates to locate the stripes I simply measured. I hope I did it right....because it is too much of a PITA to do it over.
