7th Annual Jim Sellers Classic Comes to Cecil County June 10-12
The Corteco NSCA Drag Racing Series presented by BFGoodrich will head to Rising Sun, Maryland’s Cecil County Dragway the weekend of June 10, 11 and 12 for the third race on the 2005 schedule. This year’s version of the big race in Maryland is also being sponsored by Black Horse Auto Body and Perkins Motorsports
As it has for the previous six seasons, the event is named in honor of Jim Sellers, one of the original founders of the National Street Car Association.
As race fans have come to expect whenever the NSCA comes to town, there’ll be a full weekend of great drag racing competition on the historic Cecil County quarter-mile and a whole lot more.
This year’s Jim Sellers Classic will feature outstanding heads-up and index action in 14 exciting classes, featuring some of the baddest in naturally-aspirated, supercharged, nitrous-injected and turbocharged cars on the Eastern Seaboard. Names such as Pat Musi, Marc Dantoni, Vinnie Budano, Pat Bennett and many others will be on hand, pushing their six-second, 200-plus mph hot rods to the extreme edge in the quest to finish the weekend in the winner’s circle.
This year’s NSCA classes include:
Edelbrock Pro Street
SpeedTech Pro Outlaw
Dart Machine Nostalgia Pro Street
ProFiler Top Street
Pro Nostalgia
ATI ProCharger Super Street
Goodyear Limited Street
Competition Engineering Hot Street
BES Real Street
BFGoodrich Drag Radial
Mr. Gasket Nostalgia Super Stock
Factory Modified
JEG'S.com American Muscle Car
EFI
In addition, returning from last season will be the American SuperCar Challenge, a program designed to see just who has the baddest Corvettes and Vipers in the areas we visit this season.
Another exciting feature added to the schedule for 2005 is the Jeg’s Stock/Super Stock Shootout, an event which is open to all IHRA and NHRA-legal cars. The Jeg’s Stock/Super Stock Shootout is run as a “combo” race where the Stock and Super Stock cars will ultimately run against each other to determine a winner.
But wait – there’s more! Legendary Funny Car racer Bunny Burkett will be on hand to match race Bill Naves on both Saturday and Sunday. Bunny is celebrating her 40th year in the sport in 2005, so come out and experience in person the great show the First Lady of Funny Car always puts on.
And still more. On Saturday, there will be a huge car show, and later, at the completion of qualifying, the band “Heart & Soul” will be providing an evening of great entertainment for everyone on the grounds in Rising Sun.
“We are dedicated to showing our fans that there is value in the dollars they spend to watch NSCA racing, because realistically there is no better heads-up doorslammer racing on the planet than ours,” said NSCA president Tony DePillo. “There’s no place else you can go to enjoy day-long, head-to-head wheelstanding action than an NSCA event – period.”
So don't miss it – beautiful cars, awesome action and a whole lot more – The Jim Sellers Classic at Cecil County Dragway is the place to be the weekend of June 10-12.
