Last summer I had a guy who works out of his garage, work on my rear putting in a new posi and gears. After about a week I decided to take my car racing. Afterwards, I noticed a hum in the rear end while going down the road. So I took it back to him and he checked everything over and re-shimmed the gears, but the problem only persisted. So, does anybody know a good shop in the grand rapids surrounding area that is good at inspecting and setting gears in mild-performance rear ends?? I want to get it inspected because I think I may have fractured or broke the housing. If anybody knows someone please let me know asap, I really wanna get riding again.

Make the trip to Ionia and go see Scott at D.T.S. They do nice work.

Nationwide is whom I used.
They rebuilt my whole rear end. I went from a 2.56 open to an Eaton posi with 3.73 gears. No whine, noise or anything. While they were at it, I bought new u-joints and axles for them to replace also. Very happy with them and would reccommend them to anyone. They are located on Chicago Drive, East of Wilson between Byron Center and Burlingame.

Go see Bob, the owner of Pro-Trans in Holland. He is not cheap but has a very good reputation with rear gear set-up.

They thanks for all the input, I think Im gonna go with DTS for the install. What do u guys think is a good rate for swaping the guts out of a differential and setting gears? DTS is saying $575 for new 3.73 gears, installation kit, swapping my posi in, and setting the gears, sound good?? Also, whats a good place to pick up a 10 bolt GM 8.5" rear. Anybody deal with baker before??
