I've got a '79 Z with an all original engine...so far as i can tell. The air cleaner on it is sorta like on the first gen Camaro. it's a 14 inch with the snorkel on the passenger side, but what i can't figure out is the top...it's got a seal/"foam" around the top...so it is an open element air cleaner with the standard bottom...just like i've always only seen on first gens...anybody ever seen this? the only '79s i've seen had regular top lids.

sounds like a cleaner off an 80-81. They had a functional hood scoop, 79 did not.

well...when i got the car, it DID have a 80-81 hood on it (air induction) but the title says it's a '79? what to do?

I just looked at a picture of an '80 Z28 and the seal/foam on it is on the bottom part of the air cleaner assembly...mine is on the top lid of it

no...that is wrong...mine IS on the bottom, just like an 80 or 81

If you are not going to use it and want to sell it, I'm sure there are a lot of members who would want to buy it. These air cleaners are very esirable for those of us with functional air-induction hoods who want to keep everything original.
