I am new to the Group, but I wonder if someone could help me with a VIN number? I am looking at a 1979 Z-28 and the 2nd digit in the VIN tag is "W". The decode sheets only list an "Q" or an "S". Does this "W" designate that it is a Z-28? I am really stumped......Thanks in advance!

Something with a "W" in the spot I'm thinking you're refering to would most likely be a pontiac firebird/Trans Am.

If the VIN starts with a 2 - it is a pontiac.
2W87xxxx would be a firebird vin.
