Our Good friend Glenn W .......is trying to tell me that all (air) openings in core supports are 21" wide regardless of the radiator size.....I'm saying that the Z-28, 396 and all A/C cars got a support with 26" wide hole.......please give me YOUR feedback...it seems that all the NOS supports available these days do have the smaller opening and need to be enlarged to be correct for Z's etc.........thanks, Chuck

I just checked mine, the opening is 26".

chuck, why believe ANYTHING that guy says in the first place?

to whom it my concern: if you look at any of the small,or 21" radiator supports, you can see that they are stamped the same as the 26" radiator support,only with a smaller cutout. so, 21,or 26",is the same exact radiator support, just with a smaller,or bigger cutout for different radiator lengths,and/or a hole for a/c line to go thru. if you need a 26" or,what would be concidered big block,Z28,etc,radiator support, then you can take a small,21" cutout radiator support,(whether its a NOS,or used) and cut the hole length bigger to accommodate the longer 26" radiator. cut it clean, and follow the stamping lines, and bam!,instant big block radiator support. no one will know the difference after paint. the only other thing different that would be an issue, is that the top radiator hold down plate is longer for the 26 in,and that one of the mounting bolts moves farther out toward the outer edge of the car. youll have to tack weld a nut on the back side of the radiator support for the longer hold down/repositioned bolt. if you saw them side by side, youd see that its not that big of a deal. so technicly, the the small cutout IS an NOS thing....

my 70z is 26in,as is my 71 396

Cars that weren't Z's and weren't A/C could be ordered(as mine was) with heavy duty cooling and got the wider opening.
