I have adopted a 77 Camaro with a 350 and 4 speed. After some crawling today this is what I have for info

No date codes on sides of block
Brass freze plugs
8" balancer and pipe plug in front of motor above timing cover.
Heads 3986339 Date codes C8 71 (L) C2 71(r)
"350/307 heads with 1.72/1.5 valves"
My book lists CLU as a 73 L65 2 barrel motor, but this appears to be a 4 bolt main block, anyone have another application for a CLU code?

The car has a borg warner trans, T-10 most likely /where should I look for some positive Id marks?

Some stuff appears to be wrong for a factory 4 speed install like the steering column and dash has a blocked off PRNDL in the center. But the shifter hole looks wayy too clean, and the Z bar etc looks pretty original too. When I get all the # from the trans I post them up too

Those heads are off a '71 307, the block is correct for the '77 Z28 4-speed. the black tape is the way they covered the hole for 4-speed cars, my '77 has it too. the original "882" heads were lightweight and probably needed guide work or they cracked. Chris
