MT & M&H both make cheater slicks, I could only guess that so does Phoenix. I used a set of the MT ET streets last year & they worked great. They appear to be the same as the ET Drags (slicks) with groves, but they also have 2 more plies in the sidewall, so they are supposed to be a bit more stable on the top end. I know of a guy that runs the M&H's, but I have not run them any. Sorry, but I dont have a lead on them. I cant say enough good things about MT ET series tires though.

M&H Racemaster is GONE,, The closest is M?T Mickey Thompson.

The Phoenix is Firestone..Enuff said there.

The M/T's wear well, Great Bracket tire. Hook well and don't have to boil the hides to make them work.

Just for reference.

Up until this year I used MT Et Streets for competition, headsup no-breakout racing, per class rules. My best 60' was a 1.29, with the 30x10.5's....

This year we are allowed to use the MT Slick, same dimensions, and I have not been able to duplicate my old 60's... the ET Streets appear to be better so far. http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/frown.gif

They work but the tred design is bias ply, if you planning on driving alot on them get BFG drag radials. If your going to swap tires get Hoosier QTP's

Chris, is anyone running the Hoosiers in the PRO series? A few years ago they were all the rage in the sportsman ranks and on a few NMCA cars. I jumped on the bandwagon with a set of QT Pro's for the truck and to date have pulled a better 60 than the Goodyear Eagle slicks. On the Nova is another story. Put a set of Hoosier drag slicks that were only 0.75" taller than the old Firestone slicks and have yet to match 60'. I'm sure the motor problem I was having didn't help that but just curious to know if you see Hoosiers at the PRO events.

Yes,
Everyone please elaborate.
I am in the market for tires.
I could go with slicks OR street type tires. I will swap them on at the track.
I have really been eyeballing the ET Streets for the simple fact that I can run in a Street tire class.
I was also looking at the QTP's because of Marv's results.
I am looking for something around a 26x8.50-15. I need a fairly short tire because I'm only running 3.73's in the 'Velle. I don't want to get much wider because I will probably also use the same tires on my '62 Nova once it's up and going. So they will need to fit in the "stock" Nova wheelhousings.
I read in one of the car rags that the ET Streets sizing is different than the Drags because they are measured by section width not tread width. The 26x10.50 is the equiv. to the ET drag in a 26x8.50.
So any suggestions?

I've seen people switch to QTP's from ET Streets and stay with them, but I've also seen others stick with the ET Streets.

I think much of it will be related to chassis setups. Which tire likes which type of chassis will be a matter of trial and error. I personally like MT's stuff better than Hoosier stuff. But there are very good racers out there who feel differently.

Buy a set of each and whatever one you don't like, Give to me. How's that?

Right now I'm not doing enough testing to know if one is better or not. I have experience with the MT's, so I'm sticking wtih them for now.
