Better get tunning on that pretty blue thing.

This weekend at the Super Chevy show I was running both the Nova and the truck. Clicking off 12.32-12.35 in 2200 density altitude air on DOT's through the mufflers. Second pass Friday afternoon,, 12.276 http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/smile.gif Went into eliminations with no time trials Sunday with a 12.33 in 2000' air. It warmed a little, humidity rolled in and it slowed to 12.36 @ 106 for the second round. Density climbed to 2800' for the 3rd round, dialed a 12.40 I kinda broke out by about a week and a half... 12.271 HARD on the brakes and scrubbing off 10 MPH. Found this thing really likes octane http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/smile.gif and that's about all I'll say about that!

That was the good news. The Nova lost 2nd gear in the last passes Friday so I was not able to make make the field for Saturday or Sunday with that in the electronics field. Was having such a good time in the truck just didn't really feel like an all night thrash to swap the trans out. Was getting kind of confussing anyways. One pass was right thumb / top bulb,,, next pass was 3rd bulb footbraking in the truck. Swapping rides every pass and I didn't even screw up (totally amazing)

HEY GUYS!!! No RED LIGHTS and all decent lights <.55.

Was a blast.

Uh oh!!! Sounds like we got a little competition going here!!! Congrats, Marv. The winner is still the first one to get kicked off the track for no rollbar!!! http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/smile.gif Sounds like you got a little less to go than we do, but we haven't ran yet this year. Dad still hasn't gotten the drop spindles on that thing. They've been a PITA!! Nothing is working right. I'm supposed to be locating some better ones, but haven't found any yet. If you know of any, let me know. 67 Chevy Truck with front drums, trying to go front disks off a 73-87, but would still like to use stock ball joints and tie rods. Do you know of anything??????

Anyhow, I'm glad things went so well. I haven't given up yet, though. Dad's still got a little magic up his sleeve. This should be fun!!!! http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/smile.gif

Shane I pulled the A frames, spindles, tie rods, manual disks, manual steering gear box and idler off a 76. For the 66 frame you have to space the later steering gear box away from the frame about 3/4" and drill a few holes for the idler. I'm not sure about the 67-72 but the early A arms are almost identical to the 73 and later except for the ball joints. I went to the 73-87 suspension simply because those Ground force 2" drop spindles were $225 cheaper than the ones for the 66, and came ready for the big rotors and disk brakes. It's really a no brainer to make the spacers for the steering gear box and drill a few holes for the new idler arm location.
