The dealer name is on the build sheet but most Norwood cars didn't get one. :(

GM doesn't have records for 1971 models, so unless you are lucky enough to find some documentation still in the car, you won't be able to trace it back to the dealer. Dealer numbers were only on the paperwork, not on the car.

Was it sold in Canada originally? If so, GM Canada would have complete records, including the selling dealer.

It would be a Norwood Ohio built car. I'm not sure if it's possible, but i was told one time you can take the vin down to the dmv and have them do a previous title search. If you had them give you the name of the first person who titled it, can't you take the name onto one of those background check sites and get his phone number then call and ask for some details?

Not in michigan. Privacy laws, I've tried on a car and have gotten nowhere.

seems like the best chance you would have is to try to start working backwards on the owner history. If you get hold of the people they usually like to talk about the car. Documenting the history is fun. I have done that on two of my cars and found the original owner who had great stories, some paperwork (in one case) and even some original parts (in both cases). Good luck.
