car has been fine for 2 years. i had ran power wires down one side, speaker wires down the other.
the only thing i changed was put a new edelbrock carb on. i hooked the electric choke to the alternator just like the previous owner had the holley. ever since i did this i know have a pulsing tick coming through the speakers. any suggestions?

I wouldnt hook the choke to the alt. Hook it up to a fused wire under the dash or a different fused wire. It could be backfeeding through the alt and introducing the noise.

thats what i was wondering if it could do that. it was just odd it was never an issue till i put on the edelbrock. i'll change that today and see if it helps.
thanks

i routed the eletric choke to inside the car to the fuse box. the ticking through the speakers got alittle better but its still there. anyone have an opinion on what i could look for or do next?

The tach filter is an RFI filter. Chck to see if it still has a good connection to ground. It may have been disturbed when mounting the new carb.

Just wire in a noise suppressor to the Alternator it's like $5.00 from Radio Shack, and gets rid of all RF interferences.

+1 on the tach filter. I dont have one and I dont have any noise. But stereos are all different. Make sure you check all your grounds that you can to the stereo and under the hood...

i'll have to check but i dont think mine even has a filter on the tach wire. i'll have to try to find one.
went to radio shacks website and didnt find what i think i was looking for.
would it be about the same kind of filter that is on the blower motor wiring?
