Hi,
Where do you guys drill hole for your subwoofer cables?
I'm thinking about 2x 2awg wires from the battery in front to an amp in the trunk.
Thanks.

I think most people just run them under the rocker, past the rear inner quarter panel, and through the large holes separating the back seat from the trunk.

Ok. Under the rockers, but somewhere they must go through the firewall, thats what Im most interested in knowing where you guys drill the holes.

I haven't done car audio in a few years, but since the early 1990's I always ran anything 4 awg or larger under the car to the trunk.
But running the cable underneath I always made sure I ran the cable up and away from anything that can scrap or pinch it. And always ran it through loom or a metal tube...especially along the rocker area.
It's a pain to run large diameter cable through the firewall and car

#2 AWG? Will you be welding with the amp? Seriously, that is so overkill.#10 fine stranded will adequately supply the needs of all but the most brutal amplifier.

There is a ton of room if you pull off the sill plate and the wire cover underneith it. There is atleast like a 1" X 1/2 channel that might work on both sides to run the wires down, RCA's on one side power on the other.

I usually drill a hole in the firewall just below the heater core in the far right corner, run the wire up into the front fender and between the fender and inner fender so you dont see it till it comes out the front and connects to the battery.

I'm not an expert on this, but this is my layout. Take it FWIW.
12V Power - 4AWG
From battery thru fender and thru the firewall above the heater core I go thru using a grommet.
Then it drops down to the interior, over to the center console and down one side to rear and into
the trunk. My 12V signal for amps and antenna goes with the 12V main supply. The 4AWG splits
into two 8AWG feeds for both amps.
3 sets of RCA cablesI always buy 2x-3x shielded RCA cables these days and I don't run them too close
to ANYTHING that has 12V power running thru it. They go down from the center of the dash, under the
carpet and down the other side of my center console through to the rear seat middle and through to the trunk.
Speaker wires I run along the outer sides of the car up to the kickpanels and then through the doors.

I'll be using 2awg's for my amps, which I could actually weld with :p
Thanks, now I know where you route your cables, and drill holes in the firewall. I know about the room under the sill plates, should be enough space there for my two 2awg's. :)

This is exactly what I did. I made a bracket to hold my fuse holder up behind the inner fender by the battery - where it is hidden.
...I always made sure I ran the cable up and away from anything that can scrap or pinch it. And always ran it through loom...
+1. Good advice here.
I'm running two amps and I sized my cable to support the fuses on the amps (3, 30-amp, fuses with a 100 amp fuse by the battery). My cable wouldn't fit under the sill plate safely. So, I ran it next to the sill plate and used looms at the pinch/rub points.
Front - you can also see my RCA cables and my flat speaker wire (from the amp to the front 6.5" component speakers):

Yes, my interior is very quiet. Ironically, I almost never turn the radio on. The engine sounds so much better.
