How can i take the plastic nobs off of the heater control unit so i can get the plastic piece out and replace the wrinkled paper

The control arms are barbed so put a towel on the knob, grab the knob with plyers, rock back and forth as you pull and they'll come off.

U can also do it without removing the knobs, put them in the center and carefully spread the plastic cover just enuf to squeez them thru. Too much and u crack the lens, removing knobs can be a pia and they as well can break if finess is not used.
