Why are Howards prices so much lower on solid roller lifters than most other brands? I've heard nothing bad about their quality and from the research I've done, they are American made, durable and the same lifter as some other brands that cost about 50% more.
I'm particularily looking at part # 91132 Solid roller SBC +.300"

.

Don't know or care, I used them last year and they look perfect.
My buddy used them for years, so I tried them.
I just assumed they don't charge extra like some do for name recognition???
I used the BBC .300 tall, 1150-1200 HP at 8000 rpm.

I actually just talked to them and was going to use them again, but they don't sell .904's??

Its all we use. They are cheaper because they dont advertise. Comp Cams and others advertise ALOT and that costs $ so they have to mark up the costs....Howards does not and passes the savings on. Some of the best stuff out there. Robert Lou and the boys are truly great people and in it for the sport, you cant go wrong.

Just make sure they have some method of getting oil to the pin.

We built a 327 for my son's camaro about 3 or 4 years ago. We used a Howard's solid roller cam/lifters set and bought push rods from them, too. The push rods weren't the right length (too short). I called their customer service, got some BS about trying another set to see if they would work (I explained the engine set up to the guy when I ordered them so they'd have a better chance of getting it all right). I bought from Summit and they got it right.

While I have not ordered anything from Howard's since the 327, the roller cam and lifters are holding up very well. I believe the kid's actually scared of it. He won't drive it in the rain (he says he has to be careful not to spin the tires on dry pavement off a stop light/sign.) No issue with the cam/lifters so far.

Recently went shopping for an off the shelf cam for my LS motor. Comp had one that was close to what I wanted. Howards had one that only had a little more lift than I need, but it was $100 cheaper. From what I have read up in them, I won't be disappointed.
