I collect weathervanes from the same era... Early 1900s, mostly. Far less expensive.

Rarity and condition drive the value.

Some people are obsessed with the idea of "Collecting the Whole Set" and when they see it, they "Gotta Have It".

I'd like to see some of the cars in garages those signs adorn.

Well , talk about the old lady flipping the F*** out. I could just see me telling her I spent 30 grand on an old metal sign.

Is it me or are the "highest" bids going DOWN?

I'd like to see some of the cars in garages those signs adorn.

You mean the cars they could have bought instead? ;)

Been there and done that (on a much smaller scale). Once you have the "Ultimate" it doesn't mean anything. You are scared to touch or drive the damed thing. That's why I drive non perfect cars now.

Looks like about 3 people retracted their bids, I bet you will see more of that as the 12 hour deadline gets closer!

To quote an old English proverb, " A fool and his money are soon parted".

I've got this on my watch list. Just curious on what the end bid will be.

saw somebody retracted a 40K bid. He was snipping t the highest bidders bid, actually several people seems to be doing this. Bidding to see what the highest bidder was at his max

This thing has a chance of getting out of hand. Over a stupid sign, its not that great , any average artist could paint you one up for 200.00 .

Morons.

Will be interesting to see if the highest bidder is serious or will he reneg?
The only thing ebay will do is slap the non paying bidder on the wrist and the seller gets the shaft.
Ebay's game is to protect the buyer, but that is a whole different topic.
