I'd save the fourteen grand and pull the trigger when I got to around twenty.
I really like clean metal and paint, I can handle all the rest.
the amount of investment (cash) needed to finish appears to exceed the end value. for the time and hassle and knowing what you are up against its not a winner for the average joe.
now you may have a shop, full tool set and be a painter. maybe in that situation, possibly for lower purchase price? Its just so much easier to start with a car that has good metal and paint.
