ERTL is releasing 3 color variations of the 1970 Z28 in 1:64 scale. They should cost @ $5.00 each.

ERTL 32360 red with white stripes
ERTL 32361 silver with black stripes
ERTL 32363 blue with white stripes

The 32360 & 32361 are out and the 32363 should be out next month. I've already spoken to Tom at www.tommytoyz.com (http://www.tommytoyz.com) and he has just gotten them...

It's great that they're finally starting to realease a $hit load of second generation stuff. Had to wait 30 years for it, but i'm just glad that they did. Looking forward to the time when they will release other second generation cars 74-81.

Was in a toy store the other day and he had just recieved the red one and the silver one. Picked up the red one (of course), but it was 7.95. That's why I didn't get both. Very cool though.

Had a question for all of those who have bought the 1:64 Ertl '70 Z28/RS's. Do they all have that space in the front fender where they pushed the bumpers into place? I just bought myself a Cortez Silver one last night ($3.99 at Target guys, probably cheaper yet at Walmart).

Yup, they all have that space. Real nice huh??? LOL

How can they create such a detailed diecast and then screw it all up in such a way? I'm kind of annoyed at the mistake. If you open the packaging can you squeeze the gap closed?

What i can't stand is those stupid mirrors. Otherwise i think they're pretty cool. They need to take a lesson or two from Matchbox in the 1/64 school of die-cast. The Blue 71 from the Matchbox premiere collection is still #1

Does this make my '81 rare since it's not mass produced in dicast ?

I wish !

Ok, so I've accepted that my Ertl car has a cosmetic issue with the front fender, and oversized mirrors. So last night I was out shopping again and I bought the Johnny Lightning '67 Camaro RS/SS and '68 Camaro Z/28 to fill out my collection of their cars. On closer inspection, the '68 Z/28 has "SS" on the grill! At first I thought maybe they had mistakenly put the '67 grill onto the '68 Z/28, but the '67 has an RS grill instead of a standard one. So what's up with that? Are all of them like that, or did I just get a messed up one somehow? And if they're all messed up like that, who's been sleeping on the job to make such a mistake??

What color is the '68 Z28? I'm trying to figure out which release of the 5 it is from...

The '68 Z/28 I bought that night was Lemans Blue with white stripes. I don't have it right in front of me right now tho, hope that helps.

I asked a few JL enthusiasts and was told that the "factory in China was supposed to have the grille without the SS on it, but after starting production it was found that they did not make this grille as they promised they would and was too late to add to the mold". I was also told that "there are 2 different grill styles that JL uses for the 68. 1 is the RS style (hideway headlights) and a plain version with headlights. The 'SS' is molded on to both. If the car is an SS model they will black the grill but silver the SS so it stands out. if is not, then then just keep the grill and 'SS' the same color. It's there but it doesn't jump out at ya. The same holds true for the 67 and 69 models too"....

Well thanks for the info, it explains a lot. It still bothers me tho! You must be into a few collecting groups in order to find something like that out, huh?

I have the ERTL's and they are pretty sharp. As far as the 79-81 go You are probably limited to Hot Wheels for now. I probably have at least 200 cars in my 64 scale collection of camaros. I love em. Racing champioins cars suck the bottom is cheap and the hood barely closes do not buy their camaros.
