But for what the price is I am not digging some of the body line alignment issues and gaps. Plus the overspray in the fender well. Just my 2 cents. ls777z 11-24-2011, 08:10:40 AM Isn't the GM corporate blue a little too dark ? twozs 11-24-2011, 10:27:54 AM i like the fact that it only has like 4 options RICARDO1969 11-24-2011, 11:00:23 AM Nice looking car. But for what the price is I am not digging some of the body line alignment issues and gaps. Plus the overspray in the fender well. Just my 2 cents. I thought the same thing when i seen the fenderwell Nice car anyway. 77 rs 11-24-2011, 03:29:05 PM Is the gas door emblem incorrect? The bottom is yellow but the front emblem bottom, color is orange. tom3 11-24-2011, 08:16:14 PM Looks darn good to me. Gaps and ospray look factory too, not too critical on the assembly line back then. Beautful car. No AC is a killer though. 5spd540 11-24-2011, 08:22:49 PM I dont think it will pull the cash they want for it kawboy 11-24-2011, 09:12:16 PM tom3, look at the body line on the door to fender and the door to quarter. The rear spoiler pieces are very seldom perfect but this one is way off. Also the inner fender well is not factory overspray. I'm not debating this , I am only stating what I see. 351maverick 11-24-2011, 09:16:20 PM beautiful car that anyone here would be proud to own twozs 11-24-2011, 10:48:36 PM Looks darn good to me. Gaps and ospray look factory too, not too critical on the assembly line back then. what ? you can be pretty sure none left the factory like that . ill never understand why people think that . i worked the next job down from the door fitter , and i swear i never saw 2 guys get their balls busted so bad. I'm pretty sure this didn't leave the line like this . http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh155/stinsonz/hugegap.jpg there was a line in the body shop that was nothing but panel fit and repair probably 90 jobs or cars long. that translates into 90 minutes to get the car right . and as a fail safe the car could always come off the line before it went to paint . i actually worked worked at a GMAD plant in 80s and never saw anything like that leave the body shop and like i also stated iv welded on at least 100,000 plus doors . kawboy 11-24-2011, 11:11:12 PM Hell, That's the passenger side look at the body line on the driver side. 351maverick 11-24-2011, 11:45:17 PM that's a 3:00 pm on a friday before a holiday UAW body gap - it probably happened all the time twozs 11-24-2011, 11:57:09 PM that's a 3:00 pm on a friday before a holiday UAW body gap - it probably happened all the time said the guy who never stepped foot in an assembly plant ( what about the nite shift ?) . every time someone cant explain something on their car, blame the factory . yea thats it ! again i never saw it . there was too much opportunity to fix something like that . worst case scenario, iv seen the line actually stop due to poor paint quality and 2500 UAW members get sent home early ( at GMs cost ) to remedy the situation . there were inspectors and quality audits and the such everywhere and daily . so it wasn't the wild west like you would like to believe , sorry . 351maverick 11-25-2011, 12:03:01 AM said the guy who never stepped foot in an assembly plant . every time someone cant explain something on their car, blame the factory . yea thats it ! again i never saw it . there was too much opportunity to fix something like that . worst case scenario, iv seen the line actually stop due to poor paint quality and 2500 UAW members get sent home early ( at GMs cost ) to remedy the situation . there were inspectors and quality audits and the such everywhere and daily . so it wasn't the wild west like you would like to believe , sorry . really? well I've worked in a United Steel Workers UNION shop for the past 11 years so I see the work that happens right before quitting time we'll probably need to rework everything that was built from noon forward on first shift this past wednesday since the guys had the holiday on their minds - can't blame them one bit for wanting to get the hell outta there twozs 11-25-2011, 12:19:56 AM well good for u , that wasn't us , people watched us . I'm rely not here to debate the subject , just a little respect for other peoples livelihood ( even though the plant that i worked at is flat and i havent worked for gm for years) . if you don't have anything nice to say , just don't say anything . 351maverick 11-25-2011, 12:25:22 AM that car is really nice - probably nicer than 95% of 2nd gen Camaros still around I like the car - guys are always critical of rusty hose clamps, a little overspray, a slightly larger fender gap I never said anything negative about that car, nor would I twozs 11-25-2011, 12:26:07 AM really? well I've worked in a United Steel Workers UNION shop for the past 11 years so I see the work that happens right before quitting time we'll probably need to rework everything that was built from noon forward on first shift this past wednesday since the guys had the holiday on their minds - can't blame them one bit for wanting to get the hell outta there even in your own admission you say it didn't go out the door effed up though right ??? the expensive cars didn't either . there was quality control and time for repairs and plenty of opportunities to make them . ps i like the car too , a real eye catcher with a killer interior . 3504SPD 11-25-2011, 12:42:00 AM Couldn't tell if it was nice or not. Not enough pictures. :D Z-WIZZ 11-25-2011, 01:20:56 AM not my fav color, but nice clean car boardog 11-25-2011, 10:28:15 PM that car did not leave the factory with gaps that wide and that far off. you can see in a couple of pics the hood is off. a nice paint job but did not paint the door jambs, the fender area under the hood. they need to spend a couple of hours getting the panels aligned. no biggie. it's the small details that count. gary, what did they use back in the day in the final inspection area to check the gaps? i have seen what looks like a plastic gauge in old photos that they ran along the gaps. i have sat down with several old employees and picked their brain. i love talking to them about how the cars were put together and what they saw on the assembly line. toadyoty 11-25-2011, 10:46:43 PM What's with the trailer connectors in the one trunk shot? And aren't VIN rivets "pulled" from the btm? vfw_1168 11-25-2011, 10:54:52 PM nice looking car but they forgot the cross hairs on the park lamps Rumpity_z28 11-25-2011, 10:57:07 PM I think they would have done better selling it the way it was before they messed with it toadyoty 11-25-2011, 11:17:40 PM nice looking car but they forgot the cross hairs on the park lamps ........Bomb Sights........ vfw_1168 11-26-2011, 12:00:13 AM ........Bomb Sights........ must have been at nas whedbey is twozs 11-26-2011, 12:03:43 AM that car did not leave the factory with gaps that wide and that far off. you can see in a couple of pics the hood is off. a nice paint job but did not paint the door jambs, the fender area under the hood. they need to spend a couple of hours getting the panels aligned. no biggie. it's the small details that count. gary, what did they use back in the day in the final inspection area to check the gaps? i have seen what looks like a plastic gauge in old photos that they ran along the gaps. i have sat down with several old employees and picked their brain. i love talking to them about how the cars were put together and what they saw on the assembly line. well , mike here ( not sure who gary is maybe he can chime in here too) .there was a little nylon gauge , as stated , to check panel gaps . the door and the trunk gaps were checked at the end of the body line before paint for obvious reasons . the front end is mounted , fully painted in the chassis dept which was the last dept before the final line . i migged a half million cars in that plant . me welding the door header ... http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh155/stinsonz/PictureorVideo005-1.jpg and my partner , scotty " the macho man " Mitchell ... http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh155/stinsonz/PictureorVideo007.jpg the gang ..... http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh155/stinsonz/PictureorVideo008.jpg the 2 outer guys were inspectors ( ramon and yimmy ) for the door line and it was up to them to red flag a car ..
