I've seen all the posts concerning cowl tags, and have researched the faq site. I haven't yet found a listing for decoding the protecto-plate. Or even if you can decode it. So, I was just wondering if anybody might be able to tell me what these numbers mean, or where to go to find them. Thanks for any advice.
Here's what the plate says:

1Q87H2N134409
T1104CTL B2R21
GZG3082- R 113 1 +K

I recognize the vin #, and the + actually looks like a bowtie on its side.

Of course, the original owner's info is beneath the codes on the plate. It is all attached to thenew vehicle warrant booklet.

Thanks again.

Thank you very much. Now I know I'm going to keep every original part, even when I do build it up. Even if it doesn't make 2 cents worth of difference. Pretty cool. Now if I can only find the build sheet. When I bought it I had the gas tank dropped, and neglected to ck for it. I didn't know any better. Chances are that it was never there. But it WAS in dry storage till I bought it, and I'm still kicking myself. I'll tear down the seats soon enough. Thanks again.

Check the link I listed above. There is a picture of it there. It is attached to the Warranty card that was delivered to the customer in the glove box. Once the warranty ran out. (5 years or 50,000 miles for 1970), and (1 year or 12,000 miles for 72-72) most people threw the warranty card in the trash, so the POP tags are really rare today.
