vin#'s beginning with 12387 indicate a 6 cylinder car. V8's would begin with 12487. So the vin plate doesn't match the trim plate.
The 67 67 indicates a body color of Classic Copper. No vinyl top.
The 779 would indicate a standard Dark Saddle interior.
The 05B would indicate built second week of May.
If it were an RS it would have the RS nose. Round signal lights next the headlights, two piece grill, and split front bumper.
Several things you can do to compare to see if the trim plate is correct. Look for signs of the original color. Check if the interior has ben dyed. You may still have the ID sticker on the driver's door which had a month of manufacture. You can also try to see if the VIN plate has been replaced. The VIN# is also stamped on other locations of the body. DMV and law enforcement know of these locations for theft ID, etc.
Below, WS6 is right Fisher Body referred to all of these Camaros as 12487 and is just labeled as "Sport Coupe". That being said, your VIN would indicate a 6 cylinder car. You can check the origin of the current engine with casting #'s, casting date, and suffix code.

FYI
Camaro trim plates will always show a V8 style number. So that trim tag would be correct. I have never seen a 12387 on a Camaro trim tag and I have seen over 1000 +/-. SOP was to code them all 124xx, no matter what the engine until 1972 when the engines were coded. Was like that since day 1 in 1967.
btw
This is very common knowledge in the hobby as same thing was common for Chevelle's.
<font face="Arial,Verdana" size="2">Q: [14-Nov-2001] New: Why does the VIN of my Camaro begin with 12337, while the firewall cowl tag is stamped with a style of 12437?
A: (Note: the information in this new FAQ is already contained in other previously published CRG information on-site, but is now highlighted here for convenience, since this is one of the most commonly asked questions of the CRG.)
The 3rd digit of the VIN determines which engine the car had from the factory; this VIN digit has a different meaning than the 3rd digit of the Fisher Body firewall cowl tag. A VIN engine digit of 3 indicates a L6 engine, while a VIN engine digit of 4 indicates a V8 engine.
Though seemingly similar, the 3rd digit of the Fisher Body firewall cowl tag style did not have the same meaning. Fisher Body didn't need the type of engine coded on the cowl tag, and so stamped the Fisher style code differently from the VIN. The cowl tags for 1967 Camaro were stamped with a style code of 12x37 or 12x67, where the x was set to 4 for standard interior or 6 for custom interior. All 1968-9 Camaro had a style code of 12437 or 12467 on the cowl tag - thus the 3rd digit of the firewall style number for these two years was fixed and effectively had no meaning.

While this pertains to 1st gen, it is also applicable to 2nd gen's

WS6 is correct.
On the VIN, 12487 means V8 Camaro.
and, 12387 means 6 cylinder Camaro.
On the cowl tag, 12487 means 2 door Camaro Coupe body. V8 and 6 cylinder cars got the same body.
Why GM decided to use the same number to designate two different things, we will never know.
