Is there any way to find out how many owners your car had and who they were?

Check with your State motor vehicle licensing agency. If they are allowed to share that information with you, you can get it there. If they aren't allowed to share it, you are SOL.

Unfortunately times have changes. Several times in the early 80's I was able to call out state DMV and get the names AND addresses of every previous owner of my car. I appreciate the fact that this info is not available now.

That one is even more difficult. I don't know of any State that will give out that information.
Some States will get you copies of previous titles for a car you currently own, but if you already sold the car, you sold all rights to it.

It's easy. Buy a 1978 Camaro brand new, park it in 1990, then keep it stored in a garage for 18 years, then start working on it with your son.

That's what my dad did anyway, and he knows all the previous owners (none lol) ;)

Unless you have some type of previous owner paper work, its a long row to hoe nowadays. I tried to run down prior owners on a 1972 LT-1 Corvette with a/c that I used to own. I got back to two owners before me and then a dead end. If these cars could only talk.

I have the POP and warranty booklet that reveals the original owner and where he bought the car. I also have a copy of a previous previous owner title. That title gave me his address out in Arizona.

I Goggled the original owner and came up with two possible names that could fit the age of someone who might have bought a Z28 in 1970 from Bob Keefer Chevrolet, Santa Monica, California. Who knows....

I did the same thing with owner on the previous previous title. He owned the car in 2003. I found out that he owns a paint and body shop in Arizona. I sent him an email with a pic of the car. Sure enough he recognized the car and gave me a little background info. He got the car from a friend. He also told me that he a had folder with some paper work on the car somewhere. If he can find it, he'll send it to me. It's been several months now and no paper work. We'll see...
