I have a 73 LT that I also think is a real RS or a damn good fake. I decoded all the numbers on the VIN and most on the Tag. My question is, does anyone yet know what the bottom numbers on the Cowl Tag. Here is what I've decoded so far:

VIN
1 = Chevrolet
S = Type LT
87 = Sport Coupe
H = 350 CI with Two Barrel Carb
3 = 1973 Model Year
N = Norwood Assembly Plant
1xxxxx = Sequence number

Cowl Tag
ST73 = 1973 Model Year
1 = GM Vehicle
F = Camaro Body
S = LT Style
87 = Hardtop

N = Norwood Plant

110xxx = Sequence Number

788 = Nuetral colored Vinyl interior
A51 = Bucket seats
68 = Brown lower paint color
68 = Brown upper paint color. No Vinyl roof

04 = April build month
A = First week of build month

I then have a last line of 230890. Does anyone know what this means?

-Thanks

That number is simply a tracking number used to get the car through the assembly process and not get it lost somewhere.

The Norwood sequence numbers don't seem to have any useful information in them, or at least none of it has been decoded at this point.

I can tell you that it was built on the 23rd, the 123rd, or the 223rd production day of the 1973 model run at Norwood. Since I don't know if they worked 5, 6, or 7 days a week, and I don't know if they took any holidays off, and if I'm not mistaken, there was some downtime that year at Norwood due to a strike, I can't translate that day into anything meaningful.

Gary,
I think I stated my question wrong. I meant the bottom line of tag. The 230890 is in the same place as the Z28 ZRS is in the following photo:

Yes, that 230890 on the last line of the tag should be the DP sequence number. The first two digits on a Norwood car indicate the 23rd day of production for that year, or the 123rd day, or the 223rd day, or the 323rd day. Without knowing what days they worked or what day production actually started, this information is useless. The last 4 digits 0890 probably indicate that it was the 890th car processed that day. This is just as useless, and that is why it doesn't show up on any of the sites trying to decode cowl tags.

Thanks. I wasn't aware of this.
