1965 HU 327 h/p, hylft, a/c, m/t 350hp 4 bbl Vette

1969 HU 350 Powerglide 255hp 4 bbl full size car

Thanks night rider, I was able to find out that the V is Flint V-8 engine plant, but the I is still a ? It should be a # not a letter, which is part of the date code. How do I tell if it's the 327 or 350? Anyone, Anyone!

It was quite common for Flint (and Tonawanda) to use the letter "I" in place of the number "1" in engine assembly codes. Check for a casting number or date to determine whether it was a 327 or 350.

If the engine is complete, a '65 327/350hp would have non-accessory hole camelback heads, a short water pump, an aluminum intake, and a holley 4 bbl carb.

A '69 350/255 would have accessory hole heads, a long waterpump, a cast iron intake, and a Quadrajet carb.

If the engine is stripped, and the heads are gone, the 327 would have domed pistons, and the 350 should be either flattops or dished pistons.
