View Full Version : Build sheet records
jabattaglia 06-22-2003, 12:49:00 PM All,
I have heard of such places that can get you a copy of your original build sheet when you supply them with your vin #. Can anyone help me here with any info on how to get a copy of my camaro's build sheet. If needed my
vin # is 124870N555045. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank You,
Jeff Battaglia
mulsane71z 06-23-2003, 09:37:00 AM I wish I could find that place too.....
sharky 06-23-2003, 09:41:00 PM I don't know about US but if car was built or sold in Canada GM Oshawa can provide info for a fee. have it for mine.good luck.
Bob R 06-23-2003, 10:04:00 PM I think it was someone one the BB that had copies of some of the Buildsheets from 1970. Not all but some.

WS6 06-24-2003, 06:21:00 PM The only place you can find a build sheet for a car made in the US, is in the car. There is no other source. The build sheet was generated at the assembly plant. There is no way to replicate them after the fact.
Sorry, but those rumors persist but are untrue. If it not in the car or with the paperwork, you are SOL.

Bob R 06-24-2003, 06:41:00 PM Okay I figured it out. It was Jody Prather who has Build Sheets from 1970 and 1972 Norwood made Camaro's. Here is the link to some information. http://www.nastyz28.com/buildsh.html
Here is Jody's email address jbprather@fuse.net
Hope this helps someone out,

hmbldr 06-25-2003, 02:10:00 PM GM Media Archive has access to build sheet information from 1977 to 2003.

WS6 06-29-2003, 10:42:00 AM I emailed them to see if I could get information on my used 1992 Silverado pickup. The option label is mutilated, no paerwork came with the truck and the original selling dealer has already trashed the records or so they tell me.
It took about a week but I got a reply Friday from this lady who said the GM Archives were shutting down June 30 to July 14 (all of GM is shutdown, annual event) and she would search for the original invoice and let me know then. Apparently the only thing they can look up is the invoice but she did not say she could produce it, just that she would have an answer of if she could.

ChrisS 07-01-2003, 11:54:00 PM I had a short, but convincing discussion with a GM exec (who asked for anonymity) at Carlisle regarding the current Chevrolet archives project.

j22long 08-05-2003, 03:03:00 PM Hi everyone, I have found my build sheets from my 1970 RS, built the 3rd week of June 70 Van Nuys California between the gas tank and trunk (not in the best of shape), one under the carpet on the passenger side (good shape) and one under the drivers side (all but gone). Between the two, I reproduced mine. I'm still missing some of the info so if you have one from the same month-year built in Van Nuys, I would like you to send an e-mail to me of a copy of it. I would do the same if some asked for it! I'm trying to do a Concourse restore on this car, so a complete build sheet would only be the best.... Thanks (check out my site to see my 70 RS ner perfect restore..... JD :-)
