Hi
I think my camaro z28 79 haven't oryginal engine.
I checked the nastyz28 source and the LM-1 engine through 77-81 was 2 bolt with heads 882.
My block is 4 bolt and heads are 462624...the block casting date is 79...which cars eventually equipped with like this engine?
Thanks

Hi, I would really like to know the #'s on the block pad. Also your vin #.
The block should be stamped behind the alternator on the even cylinder bank.
I have a 79 also with stock with 624 heads. (I replaced them however) My car is a #'s matching vehicle. I too have a 4 bolt block.
I have argued the fact here on the site & no one actually believes this to be true.
I know they stopped installing 4 bolts after 74 on z28's. I am 100% positive that I have a 4 bolt though & that its original to the car. I have all the documentation including the build sheet.
Ive been hoping someone else had the same set up as me & would post it here!

My 1979 Z had a 4 bolt 350. Numbers match on it. Positive since we pulled it and replaced it with an earlier 327.

Well, here's an odd POI...the casting # you gave for the heads would signify they are off of a '75 truck motor OR a '71-'75 high performance 350 (Corvette maybe?). Also, my understanding is that 4-bolt main 350's were MOSTLY found in trucks. JOHNNYMO is correct in that we need your casting #'s. Incidentally this is also the head # used for '75 400 truck heads...go figure!

exilez28,
We need the letters/numbers on the front passenger side of the block, just behind the alternator. Thats the best way to find out what the engine came from.

By all means the variety of vechicles these heads were used on is wide. The most important year & application here though is that they were on 71-79 Camaros. (this is from one catalog)
Another one of mt books says 79-85 350 1.94/1.60 w/accy bolt holes
I do know that the 624 casting is a light weight head with the scalloped edge.
I took them off my 79 z last year.
