I am looking for someone who has a matching number 70 Z28 AND a protecto-plate to check something for me. Is the code on the protect-o-plate for the engine (V0706CTB) the same code that is stamped on the front pad of the engine? Is this the date the engine was assembled? Does the engine pad also have the VIN or did I read somewhere that that didn't start until 71 or 72?
thanks,
roger

I don't have a Z28, but my 70SS does have the same engine code stamped on the engine and on the POP.

Thanks Gary.... just wasn't sure if the codes were the same. I have the POP but not the original block. Appreciate you looking for me...

All three of my norwood 70 Z's were behind the alt.

I have a 70 Z and also have the POP and the same code in my case V0429CTB behind the alt. is the same exact code on my POP. They had to use the same code for warranty purposes so they could match the car up with the engine to make sure nobody changed it out so the warrant wasn't void.

Thanks... now I understand the relatioship. Makes sense. If the numbers didn't match then they knew someone had been messing with it....thanks.
