This engine was in the car when I got it. The block appears to be decked because there are no numbers on the pad in front of the heads. I now have the engine out of the car so I have a better view of all the #'s.

First: the back drivers side its has 40GM 3970010, a clock that points to 10, a triangle with the letters N D and T. The mark points to D.

Second: the back of the passenger side has J 19 6

Thrid: on the bottom, above the oil filter it has 010, WR, 93 N each in a row above the other.

Fourth: on the bottom passenger side, on the trans. flange there is a sideways 2 then 1170154.

Fifth: a 39 under the fuel filter.

The water pump that is on it is a GM6283701.

The heads are 3917291.

I really hope someone can tell me what this thing came out of.

Thanks, Russ

The casting date is 1976. The block is a typical 350 code... 1976 350 would be a LM1 most likely.

The cylinder heads are 68-69 vintage. Measure the valves... if they're 1.94 they're from a 350. If they're 2.02 they're from a 327 or 302.
