I have the vin and the tag that is on the cowl the one that says body by fisher. It says " ST71 12487NOR 188250 BDY
TR776 2626 PNT
06B "
I'm pretty sure it was originally a bright blue color, not sure what its called. But when I pulled the front cap off the sides of the firewall were blue.
I'd really appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction.

Thanks buddy! Looks like my car was originally mulsanne blue with blue interior. Sweet! And its obviously a v8 car but theres no way of telling what came in it I dont guess without the original.

Originally, there was a white info sticker on the radiator "cover." In the top left corner is the engine size.
Of course, the stickers get scraped off, the covers can be swapped, etc. but if yours is still there...
The VIN should tell the number of cylinders.
Options and features on the car provide clues, so you may want to play detective and figure out the rear gear ratio, decide what trans is in it and determine if its original, etc.
My car is a 3:08, possibly originally a 3 speed, and the sticker says 307 so I'm guessing the sticker is right. No Z car hidden under all that ugly :)

1972 was the first year that Chevrolet coded the engine in the VIN.
