Spent the morning out off Rose Island Rd at my grandfathers place. His land is on the high ground. Him, uncle and me helped people get their autos and boats up to his field so they don't get ruined. Their a lot of houses down there full of water already.

But my grass is filling in all those places I had to pull trees from the ice storm and Ike....
Just to be notified that the neighborhood council wants us to plant more trees, and is willing to pay 2/3 the cost, up to $200, for me to plant more trees.
If they care that much, let'em buy the whole tree. Otherwise, my lawn still looks better than most around me...(rant off)
Do you know John Frank??? He was one of my best childhood friends, lived up the street here, and his grandfather is the farmer, of legendary fame, as The Rose Island Red.... We used to camp out there and spend the weekends at his place when I was a child.... Boy, that was a long time ago... 27-35 years ago....

We're about 5 inches over average after that last round of storms. Once it finishes raining up y'all's way it'll rain down here for a few days and add to that total. After last year I'm just praying that it stops raining for about 3 weeks to a month.
That flood last year was SCARY. My ex and I hung out at Opry Mills and then probably 2 hours after we left it was flooded. A road I used to get back flooded over probably 10-20 minutes after I passed it. And then leaving Murfreesboro for Chattanooga the following day (as it was still raining) was interesting as most of the roads in Murfreesboro were flooded as well (just not as bad as Nashville)
Oh and the first day of the flood we nearly had a repeat of 2009's Good Friday tornado. I was out spotting as that storm rolled in. Spinning like a top on its way in and even put down a funnel cloud. That wall cloud went right over the most heavily populated parts of town too. Lucky doesn't even begin to describe us that day.

Last night it rained cats and dogs for hours. The Nanticoke creek went OVER it's banks in the middle of the night. The field behind me (about 20+ acres) was under a couple of feet of fast moving water! Rt. 26 was closed in about four different places.
By the time Evil got home from work at 17:30, the field was about dry (some big puddles still there) and all the roads were back open.
