Went and looked at this car today. Guys, this is an original paint car and the body is EXCELLENT. All original panels, killer floors and quarter panels. You will not find a more solid project. A bit too much of a project for me, but if you are looking for a solid California car to build, you aint gonna find better...
Orange73L48 04-10-2011, 07:14:19 AM Wow...another one! Damn, this would make a GREAT companion the the "solid" and "killer" '73 I bought from Larry. Somebody truly intrested in starting with a great base should seriousy consider this...unless your idea of a restoration is rehabilitating some swiss cheese junkyard candidate that will devour your time and money in bodywork alone for years to come. 3K is a STEAL for a rust free base!
Thanks for making sure this got passed along! :)
kawboy 04-10-2011, 08:00:31 AM Looks like a nice car for the money. The main thing here is rust free because you won't have to buy all of those replacement panels and cut, weld and grind. That alone can save a ton of time and money.
hoov81 04-10-2011, 09:43:46 AM Sounds like a solid project
SG71SS 04-10-2011, 09:45:13 PM Did it have a title? Still has it's original groovy blue license plates.
camaronutz 04-11-2011, 02:06:38 AM Clear title. 2nd owner. If yer serious about this car don't wait. The owner was getting blasted with phone calls on the car while I was there.

SG71SS 04-11-2011, 11:06:21 PM I don't know... Seems like a lot for a plain jane without motor and trans. I paid $2,500 in 2005 for my 71SS with original motor and tranny. Yes, it was in poor shape but still.
camaronutz 04-12-2011, 03:35:14 AM Doubt anyone on the East coast would agree with you. Some people spend money buying a car with options, some people would rather spend money on a plain janer car with a solid original body. I guess if you don`t mind spending 10+grand doing major panel replacement, bodywork and paint, more power to ya. I would rather have a plain Jane car with killer original panels that I can build into a mean pro touring car than be stuck with a "numbers matching" car that is a rustbucket or packed with bondo. Is a 71 SS really worth putting back to original anyway with a whopping 270HP stock? The stock 14 inch rally wheels are worth leaving original also, since they are so good looking. (not) Maybe the factory interior is blue, thats a keeper also.
Long story short, a nice plain janer pro-touring 71 Camaro is easily worth the same $$ if not more than a numbers matching 71 SS. And, you can do non stock stuff to the plain janer and not feel guilty about it.
Simply put, I don`t like rust or bondo in my cars, and could give a you know what about "numbers".
But you know what they say,,,everybody has an oppinion

You can say that again! You West Coast guys have it good! You find very few (like never) project cars in New England that don't need a significant amount of work...it is just expected. I bought my totally stripped '73 rolling shell from N. CA. It has been off the road and in a garage since the early 80s and doesn't have one rot hole or any rot on the entire car...something you just don't see here. I paid $1500 for it and another $1500 to get it here....so $3K for just a complete roller...and I feel lucky to have it!

I hear ya. Just my 2 centavos...
Seemed like a lot of loot for pretty much a shell.
al8apex 04-14-2011, 12:19:13 PM I have sold less for more MANY years ago
it is just beyond me WHY anyone would take a rusty pos and spend all the time and $$$$$$ trying to make it as good as that shell was ...
go figure
