I currently have a set of 336781 oval port heads on my 454. These aren't mine, just using with option to buy. I found a set of 6272292 oval ports for sale cheap. I looked up the casting #'s but need more info.
336781 1973-85 454 open chamber 113 cc
6272292 1971 402 says"240,LS-3"

Which is a "better" head?
what does the 240, LS-3 stand for?
Is the 6272292 open or closed chamber?

chevy by the numbers shows 336781 74'and early 75' replaced by 346236. 215,235,270hp 454. 240 hp LS3 only used in 72'.only heads shown are 3999241 113cc also.71' shows 3994026,3993820. cannot find 6272292 anywhere. hope this helps mike.
