My engine code is: K 02 26 CMJ
The VIN # is: 1 6 1 172086

I simply don't know what type of vehicle the "MJ" identifies. Does anybody know what this engine came out of? I'd appreciate any help.

CMJ suffix has several possibilities :

CMJ is a mid 70's 350 used in full size chevys. The other # you show is called the partial vin code, which has information from the car the engine was originally installed in.

The 2nd digit - "6", shows this engine was installed in a 1976 - and the 1st part - full size (impala).
