OK, i was huntin around for more #'s on my 396 and above the oil filter i found a "K" stamp and also a "HI PERF" stamp. Anyone know what this means?
The stamp on the rear of the block says 3855961 and the stamp on the alternator pad is 14097.
Thanx for any help.

This block was the earliest 396 released for use in 1965-66.

Hey 80z. I just took a look at your car, and it looks great. What colour is that blue, I am painting mine blue also and would like to know the shade.
Also, was that an original big block car, or did you put it in. I'm putting a BB in mine, and was wondering if I could pick your brain when it comes time to drop it in, because I'm sure there will be something I didn't think about. Thanks.

Hey, Thanx 70camaro. I actually bought it with the big block and the blue paintjob. It was originally a 350 car, but the bigblock fits in there nice, looks right at home http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/smile.gif I couldn't give you many pointers on the bigblock installation, but i know there's lots of other guyson this board that could help you. I'm not too sure about the shade of blue, but i'll look into it. Thanx.
