how long before a car was assembled did they make they engines, tranny and rear ends. i was going to go look at a car but there was a 4 month gap between when the engine was made and when the car was built. i know alot of strange things happened in 70 but this makes me leary. it is a california car so no help with the trim tag only the numbers. any help would be appreciated

If the car in question is indeed a 1970 L78 Camaro, then the dates could be as much as 6 months apart(Engine predating build of car)Mike

I have a 03A car build date with an engine assembly date of Feb, 22 '70, heads were cast in december 69, have to check the block cast date......

The above post is an example of how close they can be as well. I also have a documented L78 with a block cast date of J 18 9, with an eng assy date of
T0407CKO, and a car assy date of 04C. These are just two examples. My engine is T323CKO, block cast date B 17 70. One head is cast A 19 70, the other is F 6 9. These are both the original heads.:eek: See what I mean?
