It is suspected to be a 1980 T/A 3.08 but I want to confirm, he gave me a number of 1254333. That doesn't sound right, but I'm used to early 70's Camaro codes. I read that from around 1978 on, the axle ratio was stamped on the housing, what housing, where at, what should it look like?

Right hand axle tube about 6 to 8 inches from the leaf spring pearch it will be stamped .Probably will be up towards the top of the tube.It will probably be covered up by grease and grime a wire brush will come in handy.This will not be the axle ratio but a set of numbers and letters that you can post back here and someone will decode for you.
