Twisted_Metal 03-17-2011, 05:33:36 PM It's a 79 Camaro built in the Van Nuys plant with a 350 engine.
Without build sheet, I don't think you can tell for sure if it was born a Z28 or if parts were swapped to make a clone.
You can order infrmation about the car from GM to find out for sure.
gordonquixote 03-17-2011, 05:37:54 PM Are those the correct fasteners on the trim tag?
wood0691 03-17-2011, 06:06:23 PM Are those the correct fasteners on the trim tag?
they are screws holding it on, i just bought a 78 thats the same way held on by screws. i dont know if its suppose to be that way or not tho.
im gonna have to call GM and find out for sure what ive got.
High Country Z 03-17-2011, 06:16:43 PM IIRC, I believe '73 and up were held on with screws.
wood0691 03-17-2011, 06:27:02 PM this is the decoder i used for the Los Angeles built cars. if this come out right hope everyone can read it.

Twisted_Metal 03-17-2011, 10:27:16 PM Great info!
I didn't know there was a code for a Z28 on a Van Nuys trim tag.
Gary S 03-18-2011, 12:59:58 AM Yes, the later Second Gen Van Nuys Z28s are coded into the trim tag. It would have been nice if the early Second Gens had that information too.

Lunaticz28 03-18-2011, 03:53:02 AM Where do I find the other VIN Number? Not the dash one the one in your first picture?
wood0691 03-18-2011, 06:35:36 AM Where do I find the other VIN Number? Not the dash one the one in your first picture?
its the cowl tag in front of the dash tag un the corner of the hood on the drivers side.
MadMike 03-18-2011, 11:15:08 AM >Where do I find the other VIN Number? Not the dash one the one in your first picture?
There's a hidden VIN, behind the blower motor. It's used to validate the VIN plate on the dash if that comes into question.
