Block that just got given to me:
number under the timing cover is 010... I havent found a 020. The number in the back deck ends with a 010. It is a 4 bolt out of a pickup...
anybody have any info on this?

Shawn,

Sounds like the block is a 3970010 Block. Look again around the block for all those numbers. The 010 block could be either a 2 bolt or a 4 bolt main block. Was a replacement block and also came in Camaro's, the Fiberglass thing and Trucks. Look at a similar posting in this same topic area.

The "10" designation alone means that it is a high nickel block -good-it is a stronger block. As far as I know, most of the "10" blocks are 4 bolt main blocks and are desirable. Let me know how it goes.

010 blocks came in both 2 and 4 bolt configurations.

Its a middle of the line small block. Most of em came in trucks.
The best one is the one that is marked 010 020.
