I found these numbers on the the ten bolt
{1254333}was on the main body by the tube.
and there was a spot 9 inches down from the yoke it had five digets. The first diget I could not make out it looked big like a zero or a blob of metal, so heres what the seconeds set
looks like { ?E480 } followed by some kind of time clock looking thing.
Then on the other side it said {GM31}

If it's a 12 bolt it's worth big bucks, $500-700 range. Just bought a 12 bolt 3.31 posi for $500, complete rearend. The 10 bolts are a different story. I know where one is right now for $125, still in the car. These are North Ga. prices, so it might be higher down in South Ga. The PS code is also a ' 69 3.36 posi., which this rearend is. They large ring gear he is refering to is a 12 bolt unit. They broke the parts down by R & P size instead of 10 bolt, 12 bolt. The 10 bolt has a 8.125 ring gear, the 12 bolt has a 8.875 ring gear. That's the difference. The '69 Nova had the same PS rear installed in them, and they were 10 bolts also.

Welcome to the board!
In By the #'s by Colvin,on Page #313, under Chevy II's, 4 up from the bottom, PS- 3.36 posi, and page #314, Camaro, 2/3 of the way down the chart, PS-3.36 posi.
If they had the large ring gear designation, they were 12 bolts, 10 bolts were designated small ring gear.
FYI- All caps is considered shouting, in case no one has told you. http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

sorry for shouting didnt know have a hard enough time spelling correctly . i was not paying attention to his topic heading as ten bolt . but i still dont understand why the general motors book does not list ps in 69 under any make of car or why they would have the same code for two differnt gear ratios kinda contridicts itself . sorry for the confusion.my #'s book by colvin must be bad wrong page 313 chevy 2's forth one up is bx 4.88 posi and 69 camaro is on page 313 also not 314 page 314 is identifying borg warner posi trac.when did you purchase your book i bought mine in 94 i think. sorry again for confusion.

I have the newest version. There have been 4 different re-prints of the book, all with updates. They would find a problem, research it, and change it. I bought my book last year.
