I have an 81 camaro, but the rearend code is:

2PH which is an 1980 rear end code...

could this been from factory, or been changed before i got the car?

either way. probably factory i would say. they didnt chuck the leftover rear ends when the year end stopped just cause they changed the code. they just tossed them into the next model year cars.

likewise when they didnt have a part, they went to the cross reference list and put in the closest thing, they wont stop the line for 1 car.

The 2PH axle code was used from 1979-1981. This code is for a 2:56 non posi differential.
