A friend has a TA disc rear end he pulled from a 81 parts car. It is a limited slip and the code on the rear is "PM". What ratio is this? Rear is complete,he has all parts, e-cable, prop. valve, etc. He is giving me a sweet deal of only $150.
What maintenace should be done before I before I make the swap.

Not sure about the ratio from the code, but for a buck-fifty, I'd snatch it up in a heartbeat. Even if the ratio can be determined by the code, you don't know for sure that the ratio hasn't been changed in the last 20 years, so you'd be best off pulling the cover and looking for the tooth count on the ring gear. Then divide. Most likely you'll find a 3.08 if it came out of an auto trans car, and 3.73 if it came out of a manual trans car. Either way, you can put in any ratio you desire. It's a good deal no matter what.

Thanks Scooter. I got a 3.08 open in the Z now. Even if I misread the code and it turns out to be a 3.08, better off just for the braking. I didn't see any way I could loose on this deal.
