Please help me decode this engine.
Can't find it listed anywhere.
Was told it is a 327 ci out of a '67 Chevelle
Code is very clear and reads VO9I3B4.
Thanxs.

The last two digits that you post as B4. This should be a pair of letters. Take another look and repost. Say BH or something. tom

I have looked so hard at these numbers I don't think my eye balls will pop back in.
That's the problem I have, numbers are very clear (so clear I could take a picture)and they are a positive B4. Could this not be a chev. engine? Where do I find the casting number for the block. If I could prove by the cast number then I guess we would have to chop this one up to a case of miss stamping.

Casting number should be on side of block. 6 or 7 numbers fairly large. This is a start to getting a handle on it. Also sometimes you can look through the oil fill cap on the valve cover, if it is on there, and use a minimag light and read the casting numbers on the head, maybe a date code. Post any numbers you can find and I'll dig out the books and get into it. tom

Well this is what I could find for numbers.
Block (Small 3/8" numbers above oil filter)
grouped as follows: 844
657
18N
Heads (easy, took valve cover off.)
3970126 GM2 DM 8250
Clock(pointing at 1 position)
Don't know if there is block numbers behind the starter, couldn't see area very well.

So far so good. The head casting number indicate a 67-70 327. The correct block cst num. would be something like 3858174 or 3858180 or in that series. These numbers would be found in three or four places on outside of block. Each part of the casting mold had the numbers. Might find on front of engine or either side. Might also find a pair of numbers, one over the other, 010 and 020 which are alloy numbers. Indicate a high alloy block, very good stuff. The only stamped in engine numbers with Bx are for six cylinders. Could be a replacement block or truck engine, maybe. The V is place of manufacture, Flint Mich. The 0913 are month and day of manufacture.

Thanks for the info.
I will have to look a bit harder for the numbers on the block. The 844 and 657 numbers were above and below each other.
I'll see if I can find any thing else and will post.

Hey TOM3 (or anyone else with info.)
After helping a friend pull his truck engine I was able to see a spot where the casting number are.
Popped the hood on the Camaro and voila!!
Top of the block by the bell housing was 3914678.
Any information is appreciated.
