View Full Version : New Window Felts
XxWickedz28xX 05-22-2003, 06:12:00 PM I just got my new windowfelts from NPD today, and they look great. Before I go installing them, I figured I'd check in with you guys to see if there are any tips or tricks to installing them. My door panels are off, and I see what has to be done. Looks pretty staright forward, I just wanted to check before I botch anything up. It looks like they gave me some new felts for the anti rattle pads...is that what they are. I guess I just peel off the old stuff, and restick these ones huh?

mcdon73 05-22-2003, 11:13:00 PM Since the door panels are off, can't you just andjust the down travel stop alittle lower to reach the screws behind the glass?? I haven't done this yet but the reason I mention this is because I know that those adjustment bolts are there and one of my windows goes down further than the other so I can reach those screws.
Maegus 05-23-2003, 07:35:00 AM This is what I have done. Put in the Re-Pops felts, not completely happy with them.

EdelBrock RPM manifold, CompCam Magnum 280 w/ 480 lift, Afterburner headers, B&M Megashifter on TH350 with a 2500 stall B&M Torquemaster converter. ginman2 05-23-2003, 08:11:00 AM As Maegus said, just loosen the stops and you won't have to take out the glass. I just did mine that way several weeks ago.
XxWickedz28xX 05-23-2003, 08:58:00 AM no, I didnt know that I had to loosen the window stops. Which bolts are they?

eberhama 05-23-2003, 10:47:00 AM The outer felts in the "Re-Pop" kit suck a$$. The inners seem to be ok though.
XxWickedz28xX 05-23-2003, 04:06:00 PM Just finished installing the passenger side. Eberhama, and Maegus are 100% right, the re-pops arent the greatest. The interior set is fine, its the outer part that sucks. It doesnt seem very water-tight. Hopefully sitting in the sun will help "cure" it a bit.

Philbowski 05-24-2003, 06:05:00 PM I have to agree, I replaced mine when the car was just painted less than a month ago. The factory inside ones were still in ok shape so I kept them because the re-pop ones were garbage. The outside ones had to be replaced, however I'm really dissapointed as the chrome strip is real small. At first I didnt care but you really notice it walkin towards the car looking at the side. Nice bright silver reflection off the front & rear windshields, and the roofdrip rail but not under the windows.
Mitch'80Z 05-24-2003, 09:08:00 PM I have Repops and am not happy with the outer felts. Near the back of the door, where is swoops upward, the rubber does not lay flat against the window, creating a 1/2" hole for water to pour into. Also, there is about a 2" long strip on the flat part of the outer felt on one door that just barely touches the glass. Sitting in the sun only seemed to help a little bt. Not very high quality IMHO.
I peeled off the old anti-rattle felts an put on the new ones. They seem to work fine.

machasman 03-02-2004, 12:01:00 PM Can the outer rbber be heated to help the conform to the contours of the body? I have done this to the rubber windshiel mouldings on the third Gens and it seemed to work, of course that moulding gets siliconed in place, but the heat did make it a lot more pliable I just got a set of re-pops and I'll let you know how mine went on.
