I like ribs and never cooked them on the grill before. I like BBq ribs but mot all the time. (MESSY)..
I ate at Chilis the other day and tried their Memphis dry rub ribs and fell in love..
Now I want to learn to cook my own dry rubbed ribbs..
Can i get some help on this and spices also for dry rub ribbs??
I want to do this on a charcoal pitt, or is that a bad idea!!
Thanks all..

I use LaRue 'Dillo Dust.. which is not a "for sale" kinda item... you get it when you order stuff from LaRue Tactical. So I'm not much help on the dry rub.
But I like to slow smoke them with some mesquite.:innocent:

There are a couple of ways to do it but it all starts with the type of rub and seasoning you choose.
One of my buddies does a lot of "Q" by smoking as well as grilling and he does ribs either way. On the grille, some of his rubs will have brown sugar so that will burn off easily. If he is not smoking them, he will make a foil tent and raise the ribs off the surface with a small backing rack so that the rub penetrates the meat with the fat and the ribs don't dry out.
Charcoal is a a good way to go if you can lay the ribs out and give them indirect heat so they don't burn. just keep the heat going at a mid level temp and let them cook for a longer time to seal in the flavor.

^^ low and slow. The myth that ribs, or any bbq for that matter, has to be a tomato based mess is just that- a myth.
I prefer gry ribs, personally, but am always looking for that rub I can't live without.
Hopefully, one of our pit boss members will share such a recipe with us...

You say ribs but you don't mention what kind.
Beef or Pork?
